Early in my diabetes I heard a doctor say that there is no magic pill to managing diabetes, but if she was forced to pick something that was a magic pill it would be exercise. As someone who has dealt with managing my diabetes for well over 20 years I can personally attest to the truth of this statement. Consistent physical activity has proven to be the single most important factor in controlling my diabetes, but if I can be truthful, had I been more precise in what I was doing it, in all likelihood, it may have staved off some of the complications that I have experienced in these 20 years of triumphing over this silent killer. My point is that exercise is not an option for true fitness, it is a must. It must be in concert with one’s nutrition.
